Once you have decided on a league, you will need to sign up for an account and then create your team. Some sites allow folks to have more than one team. You will then be asked what type of draft you want to be a part of.

The two main types of drafts are live drafting and auto drafting. A live draft can be fun. A preset date and time are given and all you have to do is sign in at that time. Each member of your league will choose one player in turn each round. Think ahead to who you will want to pick when your turn comes around. But be prepared to have an opponent pick him first! Be sure to have backups in mind as well.

With auto draft, the computer makes the selections for you each turn, based on how you rank the players. It is a good idea to put players in the order you would like to pick them. When your turn rolls around, the best available player, based on your rankings, will be chosen.

It is also a good idea to rank players beforehand even for a live draft. This will help in case something happens and you cannot make the draft or you lose your internet connection in the middle of the draft.

Once you have your team, you have options of trading with your opponents to try and better your roster. You will also have players on the bench who you may want to put in as replacements. It is wise to follow along each week to check for injuries or other reasons why your players may not play. The good thing about football is that you only need to make changes once a week and not every day. Just don't forget about those Thursday games, when roster changes must be made earlier!

The rest is watching football and cheering for your guys. You are now the coach you always knew you could be. Perhaps you will be a good rival for Don Shula.
